North East Rapid Transit Feasibility
End client
Public Transport Authority of Western Australia
Location
VLC was a part of a multi-firm team, led by WSP, that investigated new rapid transit modes, corridor and station-location options for a growth area in Perth’s northeast.
As part of the project, VLC developed a bespoke modelling approach that identified future ‘desire lines’ and demand intensities to assist with selection of best-prospect transit options.
Client requirements
The Public Transport Authority lead the North East Rapid Transit Feasibility Study to investigate the potential transit options to inform the East Wanneroo District Structure Plan.
While focussed on East Wanneroo, the project considers a broad study area, with a particular focus on how the area will connect to the Perth CBD and Joondalup.
To achieve this, our client required specialist input on travel demands to distinguish between alternative corridor alignments and transit modes.
Outcomes
The VLC team successfully delivered inputs as part of larger feasibility study which was delivered to a tight timeframe and well received by stakeholders.
