VLC was engaged by the Victorian state government to provide strategic modelling services for the Hobsons Bay Transport Planning Study.

Client requirements

VLC was engaged by the Department of Transport to provide strategic modelling services for the Hobsons Bay Transport Planning Study. The project entailed examining the expected impact of the West Gate Tunnel Project in 2031 and exploring initiatives to mitigate its effects. VLC were briefed to provide traffic and select link volumes on key locations so the client could better understand how traffic was using the road network today and in the future.

Delivered outcome

The analyses evaluated land-use, employment and transport demands into the future, and identified future deficiencies in the transport network around the study area. Potential infrastructure and truck curfew options were tested to examine whether these improved transport outcomes.

VLC prepared detailed reports and presentations that summarised the findings, which assisted in the development of the client’s report. VLC also prepared GIS outputs of general traffic and select link volumes.
